REVIEW: FOREVER WITH YOU is the fifth installment in Farrah Rochon’s Bayou Dreams series.  Like the other offerings, the setting is fictional Gauthier, Louisiana.  In this submission, Rochon poignantly handles the issue of moving past grief to heal the emotional pain of loss.

Leslie Kirkland is the thirty-four year old widowed sister-in-law of Shayla Kirkland, the heroine from Rochon’s last installment, FOREVER’S PROMISE.  Leslie is preoccupied with raising her two daughters and managing her demanding career.  Add her daughters’ extracurricular activities and her role as the president of the Parent Teacher Organization and she is so exhausted that conveniently there is no time to grieve the loss of her husband or entertain the thought of dating.

Despite these efforts, her daughters’ science teacher, Gabriel “Gabe” Franklin, is igniting a spark in a fire she long thought was extinguished. Gabe is the handsome new twenty-something hottie hired to arouse interest in science among the students at Gauthier Elementary and Middle School.  However, he is also arousing a lot of interest in Gauthier’s adult female population.

Other characters contributing to the story include Leslie’s two daughters, her sister-in-law, Shayla and her husband, Xavier, and Gabe’s mother and siblings.  Rochon includes amusing matchmaking attempts with Sawyer Robertson - a character that I suspect may reappear in the future. In an epiphany, Leslie admits she turned down dates with him and others because she somehow knew someone special was in her future.

In FOREVER WITH YOU, Rochon cleverly weaves humor with the very tough subject of letting go of a loved one. Leslie and Gabe are a believable couple and you can’t help but root for them. Their chemistry is hot, but the passion is just enough to match the intensity of this story. Leslie has immersed herself in concealing her grief while worrying about what others think of her. She finds that beginning the healing process can be the most difficult part of healing. Gabe helps her face suppressed emotions, find herself and enjoy life and happiness again.

Rochon delivers another winner in FOREVER WITH YOU.  If you are a fan of the series, this return to Gauthier will not disappoint. Although not necessary, new readers should read the previous installments to fully capture the sweet and zesty ambience of the series about spicy love in the Louisiana bayou.
